Experience regarding Elders being spirit appointed
by Comatose ini was told recently about a situation where an elder did not get recommended to serve upon moving to a new hall.
i think he left for a job.
but, something internal politics happened in the old hall and he was not recommended.

great, great info here. i had so many times when i tried to keep having faith that those guys were appointed by hs, and trying to reconcile it with stuff they did. One of the big dog elders who was treated like a rock star was a very talented swindler. OH but people WILLINGLY gave him their money so he didn't do anything wrong. And you better not SAY anything about the way he treated people.
One case we knew about without a doubt was an elder who used his wife as a punching bag but continued in good standing after she got disf for leaving him.
One elder was a huge drunk - at home only. How awesome was his wisdom at the meetings, just too too! So after his wife couldn't take any more hypocrisy, or any more of the elders telling her to stop coming to them about her husband's drunkeness, she left - and was promptly disf. But you better not SAY anything or YOU will be in big trouble buddy! Because you will be against the HOLY SPIRIT appointing of these beloved but (slightly) imperfect, Jehovah-loving brothers.

JWs Just Don't Want To Think....
by minimus inthey don't want to think about their past, present or future.. they ignore any obvious weakness in "the truth".. they won't question their leader's viewpoints.. they will follow what the governing body (the faithful & discreet slave) says even if they flipflop a hundred times.. it's embarrassing to see millions of people refuse to think.. the only silver lining is that many of us were just like the witnesses of today.

Also Prov 25:17 - i used to think of that scripture as i got into cars for fs and thought, i am certainly weary of these faces and they sure seem like they are weary of mine, too!

by startingover ini was approached by an elder about a year ago asking what i am going to do with my large collection of wt literature.
he told me the society had put word out that they were collecting old literature.
i asked him why but he couldn't give me a definite answer.

YEEHAW!!!!---to Freedom of Life! Here it is Saturday morning, having a late snooze, then chatting on the phone, then taking as long as i please in the shower - which is where i was when the doorbell rang. I didn't hurry myself, just wandered out to the living room later and found IT, my warm invitation to a 3-day which starts Aug 16th. Hear an INTRIGUING talk and watch two bible dramas. Then a photo of that GB guy who wants people to pressure young children to get baptized.
Well gee, the money i used to spend getting ready for that torture fest now goes to actual vacations - am i happy? YES and THAT is what truth IS.

People do lots more now than they did in bible times. If you want to live like the Israelites in the desert, you'll have to make camp and go Number 2 squatting in the dirt. Don't forget to cover it using a stick.
THE most ridiculous rule and I can't stomach it anymore, is that because a person is a male they can speak, and because a person is a female they must be silent. JW insist that the Creator of the Universe is concerned above all other matters, with making sure female persons are repressed and disrespected. "Remain in your role," and this ignorant mind-controlled robot thinks they are entitled to define your role.

by OnTheWayOut inokay, first of all: i like the earth, the polar bears, the whales, and any other part of the planet that someone wants to help.
i appreciate any efforts that people exert.
the planet is going through global warming and pumping exhaust from automobiles and factories and other sources does contribute to the global warming.

Why do all the COs have food intolerances/allergies/special dietary requirments?
by Julia Orwell init's a well known phenomenon i've observed from jwn, my own cos. a new co we had once who was fresh from being a normal elder and after a couple of visits he said, "well i've finally become a true co...i now have food intolerances.".
i mean, only once did my husband and i ever have a co around for dinner and they couldn't eat this, he couldn't eat that, she couldn't eat this...it was so hard to cook something with none of the zillions of things they were 'allergic' to.. and then after all that the wife couldn't come anyway because she had a naturopath appointment or something.. why do all co's seem to have weird dietary problems?.
